The May swarm - first inspection
We gave all starter strips rather than full foundation to the swarm collected end of May and they're drawing out the frames very nicely right across the brood.  We saw the queen and eggs and she is l...[more]

Another winter check
As David has said, the bees are flying well right now and bringing in pollen so, fingers crossed, all is looking fairly positive.  Today we took a look at each of the hives to check they had enough s...[more]

Better than we could have hoped
We hadn't looked at the bees at the Rectory for some time.  We were a little worried as they had been a late swarm we supposed and had got off to a very slow start this spring.  Sure they had very l...[more]
